You don’t have to tell us twice that we should be getting more exercise. That’s because if you tell us once we will promptly begin ignoring you, so we won’t hear you say it a second time anyway. Jokes aside (because yes … we’re joking …) the latest research has found a new and compelling reason to get sweaty in the gym. For those of you/us who haven’t yet been swayed by the desire to be thin, strong and healthy, consider this.

Exercise can reverse the skin’s aging process

Direct your praise and/or blame at the researchers at McMaster University. After observing that the visible effects of aging in mice could be held off by getting mice to exercise, they went ahead and embarked upon a study to see if the results were the same in people. They were.

The study found that regular exercisers over the age of 40 had skin similar to that of people in their 20s and 30s. To further prove their point, researchers got a group of people aged 65+ to embark on a twice-weekly, three month exercise regime and found that their skin was drastically improved by the exercise.

Exercise is important for anti-aging …

But it’s not the only factor in how your skin looks. In order to get an accurate skin sample, researchers used skin biopsies from the participants’ behinds. This was so they could study skin samples that had largely gone unaffected by the sun and other environmental factors.

So while this news about exercise is exciting and important, you don’t get to throw out your anti-aging skin care products in favor of signing up for a spin class. Keep using a powerful anti-aging cream, like Dead Sea Premier’s Age Defying Cream, which stimulates your body’s production of elastin and collagen.
