There’s a bit of a warm snap sweeping across most of the snow-ridden country, so you know what that means. Try on your bathing suit, put your parka back in storage, and throw those mittens in the incinerator, because we mistakenly think it’s spring!
We can hardly be blamed for wishing a slight ease in temperature actually means winter has abated. But whether spring is just around the corner, or still a few blocks away, there are things we need to do to prepare. Like send our winter beauty products into hibernation.
Ditch: lightweight cleanser
Go ahead and call us BP, because as soon as the temperature rises, our skin turns into an oil spill. When spring hits we get less concerned with upsetting our dry, flaking skin, and more concerned with keeping shine under control, so we don’t need that non-foaming, lightly cleansing facial cleanser. We need something a little more heavy-duty.
Ditch: everyday exfoliation
Okay, don’t ditch your exfoliator entirely. You still need a scrub to keep your skin looking fresh and rejuvenated, you just don’t need to use it as often. If you’re currently using your exfoliator every day, then start using it every other day. If you have sensitive skin that can’t take a ton of exfoliating, cut it down to once a week. A rebalancing toner can take the place of an exfoliator in your everyday skincare routine.
Ditch: thick, mask-like moisturizer
We preach it ourselves, so we know: even oily skin needs to be regularly moisturized. However, when the warmer months come around you just don’t need that super-thick, super-powered moisturizer you’ve been slathering on all winter. Instead, you want a light-touch day formula like Dead Sea Premier’s Day Cream Complex that will protect your skin’s moisture level while also protecting you from the sun, thanks to its SPF 17.
